Important Health & Safety Information about EHV-1 Outbreak

With the recent EHV-1 outbreak, New England Animal Transport is putting enhanced safety measures in place to protect every horse in our care. These protocols take effect immediately:

• Single-Client Hauls
  We are now transporting one client at a time. No kill pens, auctions, or shared routes will be included in any trip.

• Health & Exposure Questionnaire
  Before booking, clients will complete a brief questionnaire regarding the horse’s recent exposure risks, travel history, and current health status.

• Temperature Screening Before Loading
  We will take your horse’s temperature prior to stepping onto the trailer.
  Horses reading 101.5°F or higher cannot be transported.

• Pickup & Drop-Off Policy
  Our drivers will not enter barns during pickup or delivery. Please have your horse ready and brought out to the trailer promptly upon our arrival.

• Tack & Equipment Requirements
  All tack, blankets, and equipment must be sealed inside a clean bag (such as a taped feed bag or plastic garbage bag) to avoid contamination inside the trailer.

• No Layovers
  To reduce possible exposure, we are discontinuing layovers at outside facilities.

• Increased Sanitation Measures
  While we have always maintained high cleaning standards, we are increasing both the frequency and thoroughness of our trailer disinfection process.
